The first edition of our MusCom event is gonna be soon, and one of the anthem creators is here to talk about the anthem, his musical journey and more. We also might give you a hint about how it will sound.

introduction

Let's start with a small introduction into who ANRO is.

In November 2017, Roan (ANRO) started his first YouTube channel. On there, he'd post videos about gaming, memes and sometimes he posted his live streams from Twitch on there as well. Around 2020, Roan decided to start making hardstyle music with as alias NoizCtrl. Which, after releases such as Fire, Hardstyle Power (Raw Attack anthem), Let You Go and much more, got changed in 2023, to the current name which is ANRO. With his eye sight aimed at creating hard hitting rawphoric hardstyle, Roan aims towards making the perfect blend with any other genre when possible. Nothing is too crazy for him.

"Hi mate, how are you doing? Does your shoulder still hurt?"

"Am doing pretty fine, music production is going "smoothly". My shoulder still kinda hurts, but it's way less painful then a few days ago. So, no worries about that."

"I can imagine that making the anthem on top of this all isn't making it any better, has it?"

"Well, the simple answer is no. It's really time consuming. I've made pretty long hours and after some rest, I open up the project and hear what a mess I made, then I just delete the whole thing. So, no. It's a so called "painful process". But I enjoy every moment of it though. Me and the boys have a lot of chit chatting going around about the anthem, a lot of ideas  have been realized so, although I wish I could step back for a moment I enjoy and love all of it."

"Working with two different artists, all within their own genre. Does this bring any difficulty to the table?"

"Nah, not really. At least that is not how I experience it. I personally kick on genre blends within music. It's kinda sad that no one made it their own style yet. Or, sad. No that's wrong, otherwise I would be a copy cat of that. And I do not like copying others. But to answer your question, no. It does not bring any difficulty to the table. Exact the opposite of that actually."

"You're making the anthem with one of your best friends, DYSFUNKTIVV. How do you know each other?"

"Ha ha, I know Tycho (DYSFUNKTIVV) because, yeah, school happened. He and I had some classes together and became friends. Later I kinda introduced him into DJ'ing, so I am kind of responsible for his DJ career. But yeah, we know each other for like, 5 years or something. Might be 6 already, who knows."

"And how is the dynamic in the studio between you two?"

"As well as syrup goes with pancakes. He has an idea, I try to create the idea and then we cooked. Or the other way around. Sometimes it feels like our brains become one and we share some sort of connection. Might be because we're twins, who knows."*

"So, I happen to know that you like to experiment with dynamic EQ and other mix techniques. Is this another mix-fest, or is it pretty forward?"

"What a questions, ha ha. Well, let's say it's the first project in which I NEED to work in multiple FLP's. It's really CPU heavy and am currently running out of mixer channels in the main project, even while i already have like 9 other projects for stuff in the anthem, so...."

"As I already suspected. How much new techniques are you using?"

"Well, not that much tho. It's more like, I really take the time to make each sample and synth sound right, instead of hopping inside of one of my own templates. And in some ways am I doing "newer" stuff, like am using FL Patcher way more. But I already used it before. But now more because I need to. And of course, Serum2 is being used. But I just want to showcase what I've got as a producer. So for me it's not necessarily about how new everything sounds, but more about how well does it represent what I want it to represent."

"And what does the anthem represent? In your perspective."

"For me, it should represent musical freedom. Like, it doesn't matter if you make trap, house or whatever. If you have an idea to make it, you should do it, and not feel limited by someone else their standards. Like, what if Skrillex listened to some haters or non believers? A huge musical influence would never have seen the light of day. And I believe that he was told to quit music a lot. Am not saying that am anything like Skrillex, but I, just like him, started with a dream to become an artist. We both struggled a lot to get where we are and won't be told to quit."

"So you are determined? "

"Yes, I think you could say that. I've got a clear vision of how I want to present my music, and I feel confident enough to show the world what I've got."

"Alright, last  two questions my friend.  We are of course discussing the anthem for the first MusCom festival, do you think we can get an preview?"

"Ha, I already thought you where gonna ask that question. And I already thought about saying no, because that would have been very funny, but yes. I have brought something with me to show to the people. It's not much, but it's something."

"Still got that show man in you, you bastard."

"Well of course. It is me, Roan. Entertainer, producer, DJ, video editor, everything. Call me!"

"Ha ha ha. Well, my last question for you, and that is: how much fun is the 5th of September gonna be?"

"Bro, we've got DYSFUNKTIVV, G-Synth, I am going to do ANROPIA, present the anthem with Tycho and do a live set, how much more do I need to tell you to convince you? Get those tickets, you really don't wanna miss this spectacle. Kind of a sellout at the moment, but hey. As long as people can buy tickets you should promote it right? Anyhow, it's gonna be a blast. be there!"

"Then Roan, I wanna thank you for this interview. It was a pleasure talking to you, now back to being normal."

"yeah I agree, it was fun to do this. Turn that stupid recorder off and let's go."

This interview was taken on may 28 2025, and edited/finalized on June 16 2025.
